A Loaded Year

Not once in any year before 2014 had I planned out any four months ahead of time.  Much less month to month.  But that’s what I did this past weekend, and some months I planned week to week, and about 8 weeks of 2014 I planned day to day.  Many people say they do not like planning because plans are very hard to keep, and I admit that when we are not 100% in charge, it is almost impossible- ESPECIALLY if we have no say-so in our work schedule.  Today’s blog is dedicated to helping you out plan a bit better so you, too, can have a loaded year with family first, vacations second, and work last.

  • Realize that we do not have tomorrow promised. Put those you love into your plans first- if you have your work schedule for the next 3 weeks, make sure you put up a calendar or appointment on your phone that says, “SPEND TIME WITH YOUR WIFE!” or Children, Friends, people that DO matter.  Your boss, or work, should not change your schedule without your consent, so take charge of your private time. Oh!  And leave work at work, the last thing you want is for someone you love to say, “He/she always put work before us,” at your funeral.  Sounds gloomy, but it’s true.  This might sound weird, but being my own Boss means I have to tell myself not work on certain days too.  Self-employment is about that freedom to choose, and many TXL Members, along with me, have to make sure we don’t work more than 2-4hrs/day even if we really want to.
  • If you have a certain week or two that you go on vacations for every year, buy those airplane tickets and reserve those hotels NOW! January through February are the LOWEST travel/hotel/suit costs.  Just last night (Sunday January 13, 2014) I saw luxury hotels at $60/Night, when the same rooms cost $220/Night if I were to wait until March.  Book now, guarantee the lowest price, and now you have your vacation set- no excuses.  Enjoy your vacations 🙂
  • If you are a college student, I highly suggest that you devote at least 25% of your time to study for classes. Graduation Ceremonies are mainly in Spring, and trust me when I say your professors will have LESS leniency when it comes to asking for an extension to an exam, assignment, or project.  The first words I’m telling my professors are, “I have a full vacation to go on a Cruise the week after Spring Break; May I turn in all assignments, exams, and projects the week BEFORE Spring Break so I will not fall behind or have any points taken off?” Honest questions will give honest, positive answers.

Those three tips are all I have for today, stay tuned for today’s Motivational Monday Video as the topics were given to me by fans on my Facebook Page! I would love your feedback and any topic you would love for me to talk about next Monday!
