Three Vital Pieces to Life

Nearing the end of the cruise from last week, I asked in my Facebook Page what topics I should blog about.  A friend from Canada asked me to talk about improvisation in music, exercising, and life.  As a mix.  As in, finding a way to have all three into one!  I have to say, it did take me a while to figure this out; cool part is that almost all of us have a certain mix of these three pieces.  How so?

When it comes to improvisation in music, we all have songs that are recorded into our memory that give us flash backs to chapters in our lives.  I’m pretty sure you remember a song from the happiest moments in your life, and another song for when something really sad occurred as well.  For me, I just mixed jazz, classical, and live salsa music to the newest update in my life- taking vacations and paying others to take them with me in my Mentorship.  (By the way, it will re-open in time- the deadline was yesterday!)

Exercising.  How much easier can life be enjoyed when we exercise?  If you do it right, exercising IS life.  If you do it wrong, all it creates is injury, fatigue, lack of enthusiasm, and a negative feel towards it.  When I think of basketball, I remember my high school years and how all we did was run until we puked, sprint until we puked, and did random circuits that seemed out of the blue (honestly).  I tore my meniscus, and needed knee surgery.  Up until two years ago, I gave exercise a negative feeling.  But now that I think about basketball, it has been replaced by sharing the basketball court on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship with the Fitness Celebrity Tony Horton.  He is hilarious to compete against and has a heart of gold in abiding by rules.  What a MUCH better, positive, and happy vibe to give the word “basketball”!  Same applies to the word exercise.  Do it with a Challenge, share the experience, and have FUN.  If you don’t, you will ALWAYS dislike it.

Life.  Hmmm… I am going to keep it simple on this one.  Life, in my definition, is helping yourself and then helping others.  Firmly, I believe that if we cannot help ourselves- we will lack the core principle to succeed in life: experience.  Without experience, we can’t learn.  If we can’t learn, we can’t help ourselves.  If we can’t help ourselves, it’s almost impossible to help others.

Now to mix the three, I have to go backwards 🙂  Life is about helping yourself out, and then helping others.  Exercising is the single-guaranteed and most important aspect to life when you have the right knowledge, and fun.  When you have fun and start enjoying a healthy life, you begin listening to music that ties with that feeling.  When you tie feelings to music, you create memories.  And when you create memories, you now have a story of success to tell.  When you tell it, you teach others how they can help themselves.  Once they help themselves, they can help others.  And the process repeats.

Time Flies – Do You?

So it felt as if last night I was taking my college Spring Break on March 6, and my second Spring Break is almost over.  How sad :’(

Time flies, but at least I know and am extremely happy that I teach others how to use their time effectively, productively, and efficiently.  Here are some secret tips I hold for the top members in my business on those three topics alone:

Effective- This goes hand in hand with being assertive in today’s world.  With so many ideas, people, talent, and perseverance; we each have to be public with our dreams, goals, and track record.  How can I make this easily relatable?  If you’re not assertive with your ideas, showing them to people, throwing out your strengths- most people will choose the person that will.  Don’t be afraid, work on your skills and show them off.  There’s nothing wrong with that; it’s called being secure of your potential.  Time to release it!

Productive- Are you a hard worker, but no matter how hard you do, it seems you stay still?  Maybe you’re having the same financial problems or in the same crisis as last year?  What could be the #1 source?  Productivity.  Just because we may be hard working individuals doesn’t guarantee progression.  What guarantees progression is being able to maximize our work, but are constantly moving forward, even if it’s just a bit.  One way I can explain is factory supply machines.  Simple business- supply and demand.  If there is a ton of demand, and few supply, one machine can work for hours on end and never produce enough supply.  How can the factory become more productive?  Install a new machine, so there can now be twice as much product.  Maybe even upgrade the first machine.  Even if that takes time, the truth is that sooner or later, the productivity is going to be controlled according to the supply.  Grow yourself to be productive enough to solve many common problems at once.

Efficient-  This is a big topic.  How can we become more efficient after we’re productive?  We have to teach others how to be productive.  You see, when someone can do something 80% as well as you can, it’s time to award that person with the responsibility.  That opens up time, and allows you to continue on the harder task at hand.  The bigger problems are now going to be solved sooner than later, while you have a teammate helping you with the problems you used to have.  It’s all about synergy, and with that comes efficiency.

Long post short- combine those three and time will be available for the things you love.  And when you do the things you love- time will fly, and so will you.

Ready for a Paid Vacation?

I know, I know… I tried my best to unplug while I was on the free cruise many ChallengeToLive, Inc. Members and I earned.  But… I couldn’t do it!  Whenever we take vacations or trips of this magnitude, I can’t help bust ask myself, “Why did I ever work at my old job and stay broke or in debt to loans and never have the money to take a vacation???”

The truth is, and also according to CNN, 76% of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and are used to it.  There is an illusion of safety in work per hour, but no safety in life’s unexpected events.  Most people keep doing a job, but work so much they need to spend the money on simple quick fixes so they don’t go clinically insane.  Examples include eating out on the daily, drinking ever few days, or buying products on credit that they cannot truly afford.  The truth is, without a mature and open mind to finances- it’s a vicious and unpleasant cycle to live in.

The problem?  One or no vacations a year per person.  Much less per family.  And even less for a group of friends.  I truly think it’s time to change.

Those in the ChallengeToLive, Inc. Back On Track

It’s the evening and I am wiped out!!  Having Spring Break come along was a wonderful way to relax, but it completely threw off my sleeping pattern, eating habits, and workout regime.  How did I manage to get back on track in just one day?

This information is in one of the biggest chapters in the future book “But When You Pray” I will be co-authoring with some friends: keeping the future bright and happy, with the past pushing you FORWARD instead of wanting to go BACK.  Ever asked yourself in what time do you see yourself happier than you are right now?  If you see yourself happier in the future, you’re on the right track.  If you catch yourself constantly looking into the past, almost wishing you could relive the moment instead of bearing with your present self- it’s time to change.

The biggest problem is actually switching from wanting the past to yearning for the future.  If you have a chance, observe the biggest leaders with the happiest lifestyles- what do they have in common?  They live in the future by pushing forward today.  From billionaires to the mother of five and attending community college, if they are happy, they are constantly picturing their big plans, happy children, their business organizations growing, even politicians having constant visions of winning the election years ahead of time!  And they do it while working forward today.  They make every day count for tomorrow.  You should do the same.

It’s a simple concept, and it may be unfamiliar territory for you.  So I’m going to let you into my personal life on how I went from a one week no-holds vacation to a healthy and productive lifestyle in just 24 hours:

  • I always remind my girlfriend that whenever something makes you extremely happy, find a memento such as a receipt, ticket, bracelet, maybe even a small pebble to remember the happy moment. Later on when if you feel the world is crumbling to pieces, hold onto that memento and tell yourself, “If I had a happy day before, God wants me to have my best day in the future.”  It will spark your energy and have you see opportunities to grow and learn instead of difficulties.
  • Let your imagination loose at least once a day. As my college professor informed the class; the biggest regret of the elderly at an adult-care facility is always living by the “adult” status.  They wish they laughed with their children more, tried to start a business on their crazy million dollar idea, and most of all- wished they didn’t work so much and spent more time with their love.  I may be 22 years young, but I learned this lesson from my younger brother.  He almost passed away from a fire accident last year.  And he’s younger than me.  We never know when our time is ending, and if you’re always working- you have never truly lived.
  • Travel without an itinerary, or even without money! Yup, I said the impossible, right?  Being able to travel without $$$???  Trust me when I say, if you are hungry hundreds or thousands of miles away from home, you’ll find a way to put your talents to profitable use.  If you’re in debt, put your pride aside and do some weed pulling- heck, I did it, wrote about it, and share the advantages of hard labor in my Financial Maturity Chapter!  The easiest way to have extra money is doing what most people don’t want to do- Sweat!  And that also goes with my health/fitness Mentorship.  Each person in the Mentorship has worked/is working towards exercising as part of our lifestyle, and it is creating a stable source of income.  Now it’s your turn to take advantage of it!

Well, I’m near a very important webinar with 6- and 7- figure leaders in my company, so I have to cut this blog short.  I hope you can fix your day, and ultimately your future, in just 24 hours with this information.  Let me know what you think in the comment section or on my facebook wall.  Have a wonderful Monday!

You Are A Star

You Are A Star!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I LOVE it when my business team or fans make every single day count; every single week a life changing transition, and every single year better than the last.  But how do I teach it?  As my great friend Michelle from Hawaii quoted, “Reach for the moon.  If you miss, you still land amongst the stars!”

What a lovely way to put it!  What kind of examples can be used?  I’m always trying hard to let people know exactly what I went through, as I see experience (especially photo/video recorded) as the #1 credibility check.

Last year, one of my professor’s asked if I wanted to be the keynote speaker in front of a low-income college success group, La Puente Project.  The group focused on how to have Hispanic and minority groups turn the tide around and begin new statistics that raise college graduation rates, scholarship funds, and most importantly- have future generations look at college as a must, instead of a low possibility.

By taking this chance to speak in front of a crowd of over 300 students, my professor indirectly planted a seed that bloomed soon after my first release of my book “Seven Months To Happy Tears”.  The entire speech focused on La Puente Project’s goals, my personal failures in financial priorities and future career focus.  As you may or may not know, this was in the middle of my initial business of health & fitness establishment, so being a public speaker was NOT my goal.  My goal was to quit my old job and have a comfortable income.  But by aiming for the moon and taking chances, I indirectly found out that my true passion was influencing others, motivating them to have better lives, and leading the direction to a life full of goal setting and dream realizations.

Are you in a similar situation where you have a chance to give yourself a new path?  Maybe you’re juggling three jobs, college work, and financial struggles as I was!  In whichever case you may be in, give your dreams a real chance, and aim for the moon; you never know what star you will become by experimenting with success.
